Hello, I'm Merwin...

I'm an engineer who took a leap of faith to build an art business from the ground up - Drawings By Merwin.

The idea was conceived in 2024 but the real journey began in October 2025, when I made the decision to leave a successful 20-year engineering career to finally dedicate myself to 'putting pencil to paper'. I've had to put aside the RF simulation software, spreadsheet cascades, project schedules, and network analyzers, to focus on creative concepts, sketchbooks, original artwork, and building an online business. Of course, the engineer in me never truly disappeared. I developed my business plan in MS Project and continue to organize every aspect of the business using MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word—creating my own version of "command media" to manage projects, ideas, and growth.

In just (9) months, I have completed multiple original drawings, integrated a print-on-demand fulfillment partner, and launched my online art store. Each milestone has reinforced my belief that creativity, combined with discipline and persistence, can transform a vision into reality.

My goal is simple: to create original artwork that inspires, resonates with others, and brings lasting enjoyment to those who appreciate it. Every drawing represents not only an artistic expression but also the beginning of a new chapter—one built on passion, perseverance, and the courage to pursue a lifelong dream.

I'm an RFEE (Radio Frequency Electrical Engineer) by trade but have always enjoyed drawing.

I started drawing at an early age. From 1990-1998, I created drawings for myself and my friends; even winning some local art competitions. Also during that time, I was selling my drawings at school and in town. Once I got to high school, I took a pause from drawing.

-Received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (UMass Lowell : Go Riverhawks)

-Received my Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Tufts University : Go Jumbos)

I've recently revisited drawing to see where it will take me. For the last 27 years I spent most of my time creating next-gen electronics in engineering labs but now I've decided to trade in the engineering lab for a drawing lab to see what new creations I can come up with.
